[11.03.2010] In time for the InnoTrans 2010, SCI Verkehr will present its latest market study “The Worldwide Market for Railway Technology 2010-2015”. Based on its database of stocks and projects, the only one of its kind in the world, SCI Verkehr is able to react fast and flexibly to market changes such as the global economic crisis and to update its forecasts accordingly. All medium-term forecasts (up to five years) by SCI Verkehr are based on the case-by-case analysis of systematically recorded and validated individual projects worldwide.
In presenting the study “The Worldwide Market for Railway Technology 2010–2015”, SCI Verkehr draws upon a decade of experience in compiling market studies for the railway market. Building upon the previous four studies, the existing structure and established delimitation with regard to content have been used for the purpose of maximising comparability. SCI Verkehr’s statements regarding trends and forecasts are based on continuously updated databases of installed base on the one hand, and orders, options, tenders, budgets and rail projects on the other. Based on this data concerning installed base, railway projects which are currently underway, or have been announced, agreed or financed, are evaluated (SCI Verkehr constantly observes and analyses around 1,800 individual projects). Transport market expectations are another important factor for SCI’s forecasts. Finally, a crosscheck of the results of the railway industry and its capacities is included. The railway industry, financing institutions and equity houses therefore make use of SCI Verkehr’s market forecasts in terms of railway-related transactions and investment decisions.
